Japanese use numbers for months

In Japan, each new issue of every monthly magazine is referred to by a number – in order from 1 to 12 – rather than by the month – January to December.

For example, ViVi 1 is the January issue of ViVi fashion magazine. ViVi 2 is the February issue, etc. This can be confusing because it looks like Volume 1 or Volume 2. That’s why our product descriptions indicate the name of each month instead of the number.

In Japanese, months are often referred to numerically. For example, September is 9 month and written as 9月.  月 is the Kanji for month. Here are all 12 months:

January: 1月 (Ichi gatsu), February: 2月 (Ni gatsu), March: 3月 (San gatsu),
April: 4月 (Shi gatsu), May: 5月 (Go gatsu), June: 6月 (Rokuk gatsu),
July: 7月 (Shichi gatsu), August: 8月 (Hachi gatsu), September: 9月 (Ku gatsu),
October: 10 月 (Ju gatsu), November: 11 月 (Juichi gatsu), December: 12 月 (Juni gatsu)

We hope this helps avoid any confusion, so you know which issue you are looking at.
